Privacy Policy

A short, plain-language statement of what Regime Compass collects and what it does with it. Last updated: 24 May 2026.

Short version. Regime Compass is a free financial dashboard. We use Google Analytics (only with your consent) to understand traffic. If you subscribe to email alerts, we store your email address. We do not sell data to anyone, ever.

What we collect

When you visit the site, our server records standard web-server access logs containing:

Your IP address (truncated where possible)
The URL you requested and the response code
Timestamp of the request
Your browser's User-Agent string and the referring page

These logs are retained for up to 30 days for debugging and security. They are not shared with third parties except where required by law.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic patterns — which pages are visited, how long users stay, and where visitors come from geographically. Google Analytics uses cookies and sends data to Google's servers.

Analytics is only activated if you click "Accept" on the cookie consent banner. If you decline or ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are set and no data is sent to Google. You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site.

We do not use Google Analytics data for advertising, remarketing, or profiling. For details on how Google processes this data, see Google's Privacy Policy.

Email subscriptions

If you sign up for regime-change alerts at /subscribe, we collect and store:

Your email address
Your alert preferences (which types of alerts you want)
Timestamps of signup, verification, and last email sent

We use double opt-in: you must click a verification link before any alerts are sent. Every alert email contains a one-click unsubscribe link that permanently deletes your record. We never share your email with third parties or use it for marketing beyond the alerts you signed up for.

What we do not do

No accounts or passwords. The site has no login system.
No advertising. No ads, no ad networks, no remarketing pixels.
No fingerprinting. We do not attempt to identify you across visits.
No data sales. We do not sell, rent, or share data with anyone.

Cookies

Regime Compass sets the following cookies and storage:

rc_consent (localStorage) — records whether you accepted or declined analytics. Not a tracking cookie; stays in your browser only.
Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) — only set if you accept analytics via the consent banner. These are first-party cookies used by GA4 to distinguish visitors. They expire after 2 years.

No other cookies are set.

Third-party services

The site loads resources from these third parties:

Google Analytics (consent-gated) — traffic analytics. Privacy policy.
Google Fonts — typefaces (Inter, Fraunces). Privacy policy.
jsDelivr CDN — Chart.js library. Privacy policy.

Your rights

If you are in a jurisdiction with data protection rights (GDPR, CCPA, India DPDPA):

Access / deletion: If you subscribed to alerts, use the unsubscribe link in any alert email to permanently delete your record. For other requests, contact the author via the LinkedIn link in the footer.
Analytics opt-out: Decline the cookie consent banner, or clear localStorage for this site.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact the author via the LinkedIn link in the footer.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at /privacy with an updated date. Continued use of the site indicates acceptance of the current policy.
